iOS users spent more money Cyber Monday shopping than did their Android counterparts, according to IBM.
In its Digital Analytics Benchmark report released late Monday, Big Blue found that purchases from iOS devices accounted for 12.8 percent of all online sales, compared with just 2.8 percent for Android devices. The average iOS user spent $121.62 per order, while the average Android user coughed up $112.42.
iOS also sliced off a 20.6 percent chunk of overall Web traffic on Monday versus Android's 8.9 percent share.
Mobile devices in general accounted for 29.7 percent of all online traffic, a 58 percent bump over 2012's Cyber Monday results, according to IBM. Smartphones drove 19.6 percent of that traffic, while tablets were responsible for 9.7 percent. However, tablets topped smartphones when it came to actually ringing up a purchase.
Tablets triggered 9.8 percent of all online purchases, while smartphones led to just 5.7 percent. Tablet owners spent $128.30 on average per order, compared with smartphone users who spent $110.95 per order.
